Amsterdam Watch Kat
As you recall, we escaped from Brussels without some Leonidas candy, in fact a kilo was left behind in the trunk of a Brussels taxi. Which gives pause, here. Every taxi we rode in was a Mercedes. I realize a Mercedes in Europe is probably like a Ford in Idaho, but it did seem kind of odd, considering what kinds of cars pass for taxis (sadly) in Washington, DC. Yeah, another one of those, oops, I'm in Europe moments.
On our way from here to there an in between, we noticed that the Dutch employ "Watch Kats" in many of their establishment, such as this fierce example guarding a restaurant on a busy Sunday morning. |
