One of the joys of being a tourist is always looking up. We saw lots of domes and steeples, but never quite knew what they were. The different styles were exciting and beautiful, and these pictures are perhaps my best souvenirs.

And this building, what an exuberant expression it wears. We were walking down the hill, and I looked up and saw this swooping piece of gingerbread magic. It's wonderful to walk around in a different place, and just let yourself be surprised and pleased.

Of course, everything is grand among the buildings on the hill. The statuary, the buildings, but also the vistas of Brussels. This picture was taken at the parliament building (I think...) just below the museums and the royal palace on the crest of the hill. Just above this wall is a plaza that overlooks the old city. Pretty stunning.
